CollaboGate accelerates trust edge-to-cloud platform in the global supply chain.

TOKYO/TAIPEI, Nov. 16, 2021 / --- From November 1 to November 5, 2021, CollaboGate Japan, Inc. (Shibuya, Tokyo, CEO: Masayoshi Mitsui), a leading IoT cybersecurity startup, with the mission of reimagining digital trust, participated in Batch 12, Startup Global Program, a program for global DeepTech startups, hosted by Garage+ (Zhongshang, Taipei, President: Josephine Chao), No. 1 incubator in Asia.

Cybersecurity is a must-have item for all IoT devices

As seen in news reports, IoT (Internet of Things) security threats are escalating day by day. This year has more than doubled IoT security incidents compared to the previous year. Along with the trend, IEC and NIST are tightening the regulations on IoT security, and the impact is spreading to various countries and industries. According to a forecast, enterprise spending on IoT security is increasing to USD 74B by 2026.

IoT devices have connectivity with the cloud; however, the development of the security stack includes much manual work. The developers need to consider multiple factors like security updates and over-the-air from the development stage. At the same time, the industry standards are being tightened, and the new technology needs to be addressed. In addition, the developers have to take care of the IoT devices throughout the lifecycle from design to decommission. UNiD is the product of CollaboGate to solve this complexity with decentralized ID and hardware root-of-trust technologies in IoT cybersecurity development.

Collaboration with global supply chain

Taiwan is the center of the global supply chain, where the global makers rely on the supply of IoT devices that connect to the internet. With the attention brought by Taiwan's industry, CollaboGate was selected as the global startup for SGP Batch 12 of Garage+, a zero-equity incubator, a part of Epoch Foundation.

With the recommendation by Garage+, CollaboGate had ten meetings with the globally reputable supply chain players and investors during the week-long program.  The discussions to collaborate on the future IoT security stack are ongoing, with some of those players having been triggered by Garage+ SGP.

UNiD nurtured at the heart of digital innovation in Asia to go global

Taiwan is known for advancement in digital innovation, such as the inventory management system of face masks, led by Digital Minister of Taiwan, Audrey Tang. Garage+ is a non-equity incubator, a part of Epoch Foundation, operated on contributions of the key players of the global supply chain such as TSMC, Foxconn, Quanta, and Delta Electronics, with the missions of facilitation Taiwan's industrial development and promotion of the economic prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region. SGP is a core program of Garage+ with a strong track record, 11 batches, 197 companies graduated. CollaboGate aims at the market penetration of UNiD, trust edge-to-cloud platform, globally from Taiwan.

Masayoshi Mitsui, CEO, CollaboGate

I’m honored to be part of batch 12, Startup Global Program of Garage+. Thanks to Josephine, all Garage+ staff and stakeholders, we were able to focus business meetings with key players at the center of the global supply chain with a common sense of the IoT security challenges we face. From here, we are pleased to be able to expand our collaboration to build a new IoT security stack globally.

Josephine Chao, President, Garage+

Japan and Taiwan have been cooperating in the industry for nearly a hundred years. Both of us should extend the tradition of industrial cooperation to new creations, create future enterprises together, and make Japan and Taiwan the most active startup ecosystem in this region.  Since 2015, the “Startup Global Program” has received applications from more than 71 countries. We are pleased to invite 197 startups to Taiwan to develop business opportunities. More than 50 startups among 197 have obtained business deals, investment, or manufacturing opportunities; moreover, eight startups have opened branches in Taiwan, and their business has grown smoothly. CollaboGate’s technology and business model are very suitable for the global supply chain of Taiwanese companies. We will support CollaboGate to develop their business and look forward to the follow-up results.

  • CollaboGate is looking forward to hearing from developers of IoT cybersecurity projects who want to solve DevOps complexity with UNiD.
  • Garage+ is looking forward to hearing from the global startups for the future Startup Global Program.
